Hey there, My name is Kat Rickett and I’m currently about to move from Melbourne to Cambridge with my partner for new and exciting adventures. Katz Journals was created to capture the memories of the places I visit and the experiences I share.

After seeing luxurious images of Halcyon House on social media, it was number one on my list of places to visit on our drive down from Gold Coast to Byron Bay. It’s definitely eye-catching as you drive around the corner, with the white washed facade, clearly standing out in the sun.

Every detail has been considered. From the stunning exterior to the super chic restaurant dining chairs, this European inspired hotel is truly stunning. After a much-needed Spritz and delicious, healthy lunch in Paper Daisy, the hotel’s main dining area, which shares a view of the hotel’s beach style pool, we took a stroll down to Cabarita beach. The hotel is located just off Cabarita beach, about a 2 minute stroll where you’ll find white sand and stunning views. Halcyon House is definitely a must see. Next stop, Byron!

For our first day in Byron, it was straight to Wategoes for a morning swim. But first, coffee! On the way, grab a coffee and granola bowl from local cafe, Topshop. This quaint café will make you feel like a local. Wategoes is a great beach to spend a day with stunning views and peaceful grassy shaded areas if you want to enjoy an afternoon reading and not get covered in sand. A good way to spend the morning would be to head past Wategoes and take the path up to the Lighthouse. Make sure and do this early morning before it get’s too hot! You will get stunning views of The Pass, Wategoes and Byron Bay, the perfect morning stroll. Continue reading...
